Wired 4K camera systems for houses, acreage and businesses from Springfield Lakes out to Rosewood. The cable is hidden in the roof or under the floor, the recorder keeps filming when the NBN drops out, and the app is working on your phone before we leave.
Cat6 run and terminated properly • often about half an electrician's rate
Modern IP cameras take their power down the same Cat6 cable that carries the picture, at a low 48 volts. That is data cabling work, not mains wiring. Richard holds ACMA cabling registration and has worked on computer networks for years, so the cable runs, the recorder and the phone app are all one person's job, and the bill usually comes in around half of what an electrician would quote.
Thirteen years of Word of Mouth awards, all based on reviews from real Zoo Computer Repairs customers.
Start with the job that matches what you need. Every install is planned around the actual property, so the quote fits your house or business in Ipswich.
Cameras on the driveway, front door, side path, back yard, carport and shed. On highset homes the cable usually runs under the floor and up inside the wall, so nothing shows on the outside.
Shops, offices, workshops, factory units and storage yards. Set up so you can check the till, the stockroom and the gate from your phone, with recordings kept long enough to matter.
Cameras offline, recorder beeping, app not connecting, old analogue system gone fuzzy. We find the fault first and tell you whether it is worth repairing before any parts are ordered.
Bought a Swann, Reolink, Eufy, Lorex or Hikvision kit and ran out of patience? We mount it, run the cable properly and set up the app. Our cabling and labour carry our warranty, and the cameras stay under the maker's warranty.
Strobe lights, a siren and a voice warning that go off when the camera sees a person or vehicle where they shouldn't be. Built to make someone turn around before they reach the door.
Watch live or play back footage on your phone, tablet or computer. We set it up, change the default passwords and show you how to save a clip before we go.
A normal camera records the break-in and leaves you with footage of someone driving away. An active deterrence camera reacts while they are still at the gate: red and blue strobes, a siren and a recorded warning, triggered by a person or vehicle in a zone you set. We fit them on new installs or alongside an older system you already have.
“You’re Being Recorded and the Owner Has Been Notified”
See every camera live, get a phone alert when someone walks up the drive, and scroll back through recordings without going near the recorder.
Every system we put in across Ipswich leaves with the app installed on each phone in the house. Live view, alerts and playback all work before we pack up, and we show you how to pull out a clip if you ever need one for police or insurance.
The camera works out whether it is a person, a car or a branch moving in the wind, and only the first two set off your phone.
Driveway, front door, back patio and side gate, all on one screen, whether you are at work in Brisbane or away on holidays.
iPhone, Android, iPad and PC or Mac software, with separate logins so the kids or staff only see what they need to.
The same standard applies whether it is two cameras on a cottage in Woodend or twelve on a factory unit in Bundamba. Nothing is left half finished, and you know how to use it before we go.
No conduit snaking across the front of the house. Cables end at a neat point in a cupboard, the garage or a small lockable rack.
What each option does well, where it falls short, and which one suits a property in Ipswich.
Every camera has its own Cat6 cable back to the recorder, carrying power and picture together. Nothing to charge and nothing relying on Wi-Fi.
✓ 24/7 Continuous: Records all day and night, not just after motion.
✓ Zero Wi-Fi Jams: A cable cannot be knocked out by a Wi-Fi jammer.
✓ $0 Subscriptions: Footage stays on your own hard drive. No cloud bill.
Handy where a cable run would cost more than the camera. The catches are charging, signal strength and, with some brands, a monthly fee.
• Rental Friendly: Comes down when you move out, with no holes left behind.
⚠ Battery Charging: Expect a ladder trip every couple of months, sooner in summer heat.
⚠ Motion Lag: Most only wake up and start recording a second or two late.
Resolution, lens width, night vision type, detection and deterrence are picked for each position, not one model for every corner.
👁️ 4K vs 4MP: 4K gives you enough detail to zoom in on a face or a number plate.
🌈 ColorVu Night: A wide aperture lens keeps colour at night under a little ambient light.
🧠 AcuSense AI: Sorts people and vehicles from trees, so alerts mean something.
Starting prices, with exactly what each one covers. If your place needs more, such as a second storey, a long run out to a shed or extra cameras, it is itemised in the written quote before any work starts.
Mounting and proper cabling for a kit you bought yourself, whether it came from Swann, Reolink, Eufy or a warehouse store.
A wired PoE system with 4K cameras recording around the clock to a hard drive in your house. No monthly fees.
Cameras that flash, sound a siren and play a warning when a person or vehicle comes into the zone you choose. Built for driveways, sheds and side gates.
Four steps, no surprises on the invoice, and you know who is turning up.
House or business, how many storeys, what you want to watch and whether there is an old system already up. A few photos are often enough for a first estimate.
We look at blind spots, cable routes and how many days of footage you need, then put it all in writing at a fixed price.
Cameras mounted, cable run, recorder set up and every angle checked at night. The mess leaves with us.
We walk you through the app, hand over every password and leave you a number to call when you change modem or phone.
The person who quotes the job is the person who does it. No subcontractors, no labour hire and no one you have never met turning up on the day.
ACMA Master Cabler • QLD Security Installer
Zoo Computer Repairs is a sole trader family business. Book a job and Richard is the one who walks the property, quotes it, climbs into the roof and sets up the app on your phone. There is no salesperson in between, and nobody new turns up on install day.
Zoo Computer Repairs has been fixing computers and networks since 2010. A camera system today is a small network: cameras, a recorder, a switch, your modem and an app. When people have trouble after an install it is rarely the cameras. It is the app losing its connection after a new modem, a cheap switch dropping cameras out, or remote access breaking when the internet provider changes something.
Modems, routers, Wi-Fi and NBN connections are everyday work for us, so the network side is done right at the start. If something changes later, the person who installed the cameras can fix it.
It saves money too. IP cameras get their power through the network cable, so there is no electrician involved. Richard is a registered cabler and runs the cable himself, usually for around half what an electrician charges for the same work.
What you get from that
A house in Raceview, ten acres at Pine Mountain and a factory unit in Bundamba all need different camera systems. Start with the page closest to yours.
All 82 suburbs and localities in the Ipswich City council area. Tap a highlighted suburb for its own page.
Straight answers to what people around Ipswich ask before they book an install.
Four covers a standard suburban block: the driveway, the front door, the side path and the back yard. Plenty of Ipswich houses are highset timber homes on stumps, and the open area underneath is where the mower, the tools and sometimes the car live. That usually needs its own camera, because it can't be seen from the street or from inside.
Acreage is a different count. A camera on the front gate, one on the house approach and one on each shed is a common starting point on blocks out past Karalee, Marburg or Grandchester. We walk the property and tell you what each position will and won't see.
Fitting cameras you already own starts at $490. A four camera 4K wired system with the recorder and drive starts at $1,690 installed, and the active deterrence package with siren and strobe cameras starts at $1,890.
The things that change the price are the number of cameras, the resolution, the length of the cable runs and how easy the roof or underfloor is to get into. A long run to a shed on acreage, or a second storey, adds to the job. The figure is fixed in writing before we start, so the invoice matches the quote.
Usually within a few business days, and sooner when the diary has a gap. Zoo Computer Repairs is a small business and Richard does every install himself, so it is two jobs a day at most. Calling early in the week gives you the best chance of a quick booking.
Repairs go to the front of the queue. If your cameras are down after a storm or a break-in, tell us and we will fit you in as soon as we can.
Four cameras on a single storey house takes three to four hours. A bigger system, a two storey home or acreage with long cable runs out to sheds can take most of the day.
Before we leave, the app is on your phone, you know how to find a recording, and every camera has been checked in the dark as well as the light. If you can't be home, we will send through a photo of each camera position.
Wired, nearly every time. A wired camera gets its power and picture through one cable, so there is no battery to charge and nothing depending on Wi-Fi. Ipswich summers are hot, and batteries mounted under a western eave lose capacity faster than the box suggests.
Wireless suits a rental you'll leave in a year, or a single gate a long way from power. For a shed or workshop well away from the house, we can often link a wired camera back with a point to point wireless bridge, which is far more reliable than a Wi-Fi camera at that distance.
Yes. On a highset timber house the cable usually runs underneath the floor and up inside the wall, or across the roof space and down through the eaves. Holes are drilled only where they have to be, sealed afterwards, and placed where they won't show from the street.
Closed-in underneaths, VJ walls with no cavity and raked ceilings take more planning. We look at those on site and tell you what is possible before you book. If the house is on a heritage register, check with Ipswich City Council before anything goes on the street-facing wall.
No. The recorder saves everything to its own hard drive, so the cameras keep recording through an NBN outage or a modem restart. You just can't view them from your phone until the connection is back.
Storms knock the power out often enough here that a small UPS on the recorder is worth thinking about. If the house is in a flood-affected area, such as low-lying parts of Goodna or North Ipswich, we mount the recorder up high instead of on the garage floor or under the house.
Yes. We mount and cable kits people buy themselves, and we have set up Swann, Arlo, Eufy, Reolink and Uniden gear. Many of those brands use their own app and cloud, so we can get the cameras mounted and the picture right, but faults inside the maker's software are theirs to fix.
Send us the make and model before you book and we will tell you honestly what we can do with it.
Tell us a little about the property and we will send back a written, itemised quote.
Thanks, your details are on their way to Richard (QLD Lic #4930731, ACMA #A058225). He will look over what you have sent and reply with an itemised written estimate, usually within 15 to 30 minutes during trade hours.
Zoo Computer Repairs has picked up a Word of Mouth service award every year since 2014. The awards come from reviews written by customers on Australia's independent review site, not from anything we paid for.
Given on the strength of customer reviews: turning up when we said, doing tidy work and helping out after the job was finished.
Reviews mention clear fixed quotes, cable kept out of sight and patience when showing people how to use the app.
Word of Mouth (womo.com.au) is an Australian review site where customers rate the businesses they used. Its yearly service awards go to businesses with consistently strong reviews.
