Construction Site Cameras in Ipswich

Tools, copper, appliances and materials go missing from building sites every week. Cameras on site, with alerts after hours, make a site a harder target.

What goes missing from building sites

Building sites are attractive to thieves because they hold expensive, portable things and nobody is there at night. Power tools, generators, copper pipe and wire, hot water systems, air conditioners, appliances waiting to be fitted and stacks of timber or plasterboard all disappear. Fit-out stage is often the worst, because the house is full of new appliances and fittings but is not yet occupied.

Power and internet on site

Most sites do not have permanent power or internet. There are a few ways around that.

If there is builder’s temporary power, cameras can run from a small recorder in a lockable box or the site shed, with a 4G router for remote access. That gives continuous recording and live view from anywhere.

If there is no power at all, a solar powered 4G camera is the option. It records clips when it detects movement rather than recording continuously, but it sends alerts and works anywhere with mobile coverage.

Growth areas around Ipswich

Ipswich has some of the busiest residential building areas in South East Queensland, especially across the Ripley Valley, Springfield Rise and the newer parts of Redbank Plains and Deebing Heights. In estates, a single site can be one of dozens under construction at once, which means plenty of trade vehicles coming and going and no one paying attention to one more ute. A camera covering the driveway and the garage shows who was there and when.

Moving cameras as the build changes

A slab and frame need different coverage to a lock-up house. Early on, a camera on the materials and the site shed matters most. At lock-up, the focus moves to doors, windows and the garage where appliances are stored. We plan for cameras to be repositioned at key stages, and the quote shows how many visits that takes.

From site cameras to the finished home

For owner builders and people building their own home, it is worth thinking about the permanent system early. The cabling can go in at frame stage, as covered on our new build page, and the site camera can be swapped for the permanent system at handover.

Questions people ask

What if the site has no power?

A solar powered camera with a 4G connection works without mains power. It records clips when it detects movement and sends alerts to your phone.

Can the cameras stay after the build finishes?

If the cabling is planned that way, yes. On a home build, the temporary site camera can be replaced with the permanent system once the house is finished.

Who can see the footage?

Whoever you give access to. Builders often share live view with the site supervisor and the client.
